The Apocalypse! A code book of future events awaiting deciphering? Or a picture book of current events?
Is there a global tyrant who will be known as the Antichrist? Who, or what, is the Beast? The False Prophet? Who are the 144,000? What is Babylon and who is the Prostitute who seduces the world?
Understanding the Book of Revelation need not be daunting. You don’t have to be theological scholar to understand it. After all, John wrote it for the common man. Yet, the key to understanding lies in the Old Testament foreshadowing and types preceding it. Nowhere is the phrase “The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed” more true. And, once you understand it, and take a look at the world today, the more you might recognize that the Apocalypse is now!
This book started as a desire to learn and to understand the Book of Revelation. As such, I’ve been reading commentaries and listening to sermons on the topic for years. And then, a year and a half ago, the Lord spoke clearly to me during a time of praise and worship that the “earthquake” of the sixth seal would take place before the end of May 2021. As a sign of confirmation, He also told me that Biden would become president. That was in May 2020, months before the Democrat Convention would select the ex-vice president as its candidate. By that point, I was also earnestly wanting to write an End Times novel series with the desire to be as theologically correct as possible–none of that Left Behind and rapture “mythology.” My studies ratcheted up several notches.
At this point, I’ve read thousands of pages of commentaries from all eschatological perspectives. I listened to hours and hours of messages on the book. My own understanding has both broadened and deepened, and now, I hope to share some of that with you. The key to understanding The Apocalypse of Christ doesn’t really lie in any “manmade” End Times viewpoint. The key is in understanding the Old Testament (OT) foreshadowing and types for this momentous time in history.
As for the earthquake? Well, on into May 2021 I fully expected we’d all feel a physical global shaking. It didn’t happen. Had I heard the Lord wrong? Was I just hearing voices? Yet, Biden had become president and the Lord had told me not that he’d win the election but that he would become president. And he had–whether or not you think he stole it. What had I missed? That’s when my digging into the Word showed me that earthquakes in the OT meant one of two things: a theophany (the presence of God, as in His coming to Mt. Sinai) or major political upheaval. Indeed, His word to me was true.
