Description
The story:
Sinead O’Malley and her husband, Jameson, fight to reunite their family after the State of Massachusetts tore it apart and ignored their right to due process. Now, as he sits in jail, she has a choice to make. It’s a choice that could lead to losing her eldest daughter forever. Yet, Sinead can no longer watch her daughter, Ruth, deteriorate. She is left with one option, no matter the consequences.
When an unexpected storm cell takes down MedAir 724, Amy Gibbs, RN, finds herself rescued at the hands of an “angel of mercy.” But who is this woman? And who is she, along with her handicapped daughter, hiding from? Amy, too, has a choice to make: help the woman who saved her life, or follow the law. But is it the law that is wrong? Or is it a system that has become so corrupt that it “legally” traffics children?
The issue:
Based on the true story of a disabled, Boston teen who was ripped away from her family because two groups of doctors disagreed on her diagnosis and care, not because of anything her parents did wrong, Wrongfully Removed is a tale of one loving family’s fight to keep their children together. Others aren’t so fortunate. Corruption in the family courts and child protection services has become rampant.
Author’s Note: While there are good, caring case workers in the system, and some states work hard to keep families together, as a whole the corruption of our nation’s child protective services needs examination and correction. Studies show that only 6-16% of children are removed from their homes for legitimate reasons. And the ‘system’ has become the leading purveyor of children in the sex trafficking industry. Slowly, we’re making progress in exposing this issue. Appeals courts are getting involved and major lawsuits have resulted in multi-million dollar judgments against the offending agencies.
